Inspiration from Kajabi's Impact Summit

Uncategorized Apr 16, 2019

From April 5th to 7th, I attended Kajabi's Impact Summit in Irvine, California. I had no idea what to expect and walked away from the weekend with pages and pages of notes, with ideas and inspiration for how I wanted to continue to build my business. I wanted to share my own top takeaways, in hopes of inspiring you to reflect on your business and where you want it to go (and how you want to get there).

  1. You have to go after your dreams like it's LIFE or DEATH - because it is. It is the life you want or the death of your dreams. What would it look like for you to play full out, to go after everything you want with the urgency of a life or death situation?
  2. Who needs me on my A game today? Stop making your business about you; you started this thing to make a difference, so who needs you to show up today.
  3. Make your dream come true... so you can make other people’s dreams come true. The magic of building a truly successful business is not just in the income you build for yourself. It’s your ability to help your children, your parents, your grandparents, your community. Remember that bigger picture. Success counts most when you get to share it.
  4. Never limit your vision based on your current circumstances or competencies. Where you are and who you are today does NOT dictate what the size of your dreams should be. Make that vision so freaking big it scares you.
  5. Take your inadequacies and put them on your to-do list. Stop just accepting that you don’t know how to do something; instead, take the messy action to learn how to do it! You have all the information you could ever need to build a successful business and it’s literally all on Google and YouTube. Your ignorance on any topic is a choice.
  6. Do for one what you wish you could do for many. At the Impact Summit, Casey Graham, the founder of Gravy, had every single person in the room write a thank-you note to a client, a customer, a subscriber. I scrolled through my PayPal until I found the very first person who had trusted me enough to sign up with the Challenge Group Upgrade ... and I cried while I wrote her a note of gratitude for allowing me to support her in her business. What if every month, you sent a handwritten note to just one of your clients?
  7. Never despise a small beginning. Having massive success from the start might seem ideal... but a small beginning? That is where you build the habit, the tenacity, the muscle that will serve you as your business expands.
  8. The people you worry about judging you? They don't have to live with your regrets. Is there something you really want to do, but you worried about what Jennifer from your high school English class will say when she sees you sharing on Facebook? Ok, well, STOP! Jennifer from your high school English class isn't going to get to the end of her life and regret the things you didn't do.
  9. If you don't own your audience, you don't own your business. You. Do. Not. Own. Your. Social. Media!! Social media is a method of acquisition for your business. Social media is NOT your business. Facebook can delete your account any day. Instagram can put you in IG jail without a second thought. Build your dang email list, friend.
  10. There is no such thing as failure. You either get the outcome you wanted or the lesson you needed. So... just try.
